Today is a busy day on the farm—and it starts with the arrival of another batch of baby chicks in the mail.
We show getting the new chicks settled into the brooder and check in on the group we already have to make sure everyone is healthy, eating well, and adjusting properly.
We also give an update on a few recent projects around the farm:
• The finished lumber job from the sawmill video
• Some final touches on our new chicken tractor
• General updates around the farm
But somewhere in the middle of the day a friendly debate breaks out between me and Andy from the YouTube channel @TrueGritAppalachianWays
It all comes down to one simple question…
What is the best snack cracker — or “nab” as we call them here?
If you're from Appalachia you already know how serious this conversation can get.
Between chicks arriving, farm projects moving forward, and a little friendly banter, it turned into a pretty good day on the farm.
Things are getting heated in the Appalachian homesteading community! Today, I have to take a minute to address a serious disagreement I'm having with my buddy Andy over at the True Grit: Appalachian Ways YouTube channel. We are settling the great debate on what the absolute best "nab" (snack cracker) really is. Let us know in the comments whose side you are on!
Once we get that settled, it is back to business at Sheraton Park Farms. We had an exciting delivery at the post office today: a brand new batch of baby chicks! We are bringing you along to unbox the chicks, get them safely settled into the brooder, and check on how our older batch of birds is doing.
Finally, we are wrapping up some ongoing projects. We give you a final look at the 16-foot lumber we milled in the last video, and show you the finishing touches we are putting on the brand new chicken tractor to get it ready for the pasture.
In this video, you will see:
The Feud: Calling out True Grit: Appalachian Ways over the best snack cracker!
Mail Call: Unboxing a new shipment of baby chicks.
Brooder Check: Ensuring the flock gets a healthy, warm start.
Project Updates: Finishing the chicken tractor and reviewing our milled lumber.
